The beaches of Krabi are among the best in Thailand, and Klong Muang is one of the finest in Krabi. It is a magnificent, wide, and long — about 4 km — stretch of clean sand surrounded by coconut palms and casuarina trees with their long and soft needles. Right behind the beach begin real jungles. There are very few people here, just a couple of makeshift cafés and no beach facilities. However, this is an advantage rather than a drawback: Klong Muang has the appearance of a classic “bounty-style” beach.
Why Klong Muang Is Great
Klong Muang Beach is conditionally divided into two parts: the left (southern), which is quieter, and the right side, where a small pier is located and some signs of civilization appear. A beautiful road leads directly to the southern end of the beach and ends at a small area where you can leave your vehicle and buy some food (mostly fruit). Above the area, there is a canopy (you can hide from the sun here) and a sign with the beach name (though only in Thai).
The sand on the beach is yellowish-cream, very fine: when dry it feels like flour, and when wet — like delicate shortcrust pastry. There are many small holes in the sand — these are crab burrows, which is quite expected considering the name of the province.

The entrance to the sea is gentle and convenient — despite the presence of some boulders, it is safe for children and the elderly.

However, during low tide swimming becomes impossible — the water goes too far out. The sea is clean and calm, but you will not see much marine life here.
Beach Location on the Map
Klong Muang is a small village 30 km north of Krabi Town. The most famous and budget-friendly beach of Krabi — Ao Nang — is 15 km to the south, and the upscale Tubkaek is 3 km to the north. Getting to Klong Muang is simple but not very cheap: public transport and tuk-tuks do not go here. Taxis remain the only option: you can order one in town, at the airport, online through an agency, or at a hotel — we recommend booking accommodation in advance, especially in high season. The trip costs around 1000 baht (approximately 30 USD).
Those planning to rent a motorbike in Krabi will find it easy to reach this wonderful beach. There are signs along the road, so it’s quite difficult to “miss” it.

What You Can See Around the Beach
There are no attractions in the village — except for magnificent landscapes. For entertainment, you’ll need to go to Ao Nang, but it takes no more than 15–20 minutes. This is more convenient for those who plan to rent a motorbike. Taxis can be ordered at the hotel or at a taxi stand. There are tour agencies where you can buy excursions. Ferries to the islands depart from Ao Nang: Koh Lanta, Phuket, Phi Phi, Phangan.
A bit about the local infrastructure
There are few cafés in the village, but the quality of dishes and service is good, and the prices are far from overpriced.

Of course, there is no real shopping here, but there is a supermarket, several small shops with essential items like T-shirts or hats, and all kinds of souvenirs. The local market operates only on Fridays, so if you plan to stay in Klong Muang for less than a week, you might miss it. Naturally, there are massage salons. You won’t have problems exchanging currency — there is an exchange office and ATMs.
Who Will Enjoy Klong Muang
- Families with children,
- Couples looking for a quiet and romantic getaway,
- Elderly travelers,
- Those who dream of a tranquil holiday in a beautiful and comfortable corner of Thailand.
And finally, a very useful tip: in the low season — from April to October — there is no point in coming to Klong Muang: rain, heat, and the sea brings all kinds of debris to the shore. Even the extremely pleasant accommodation prices will not reduce your disappointment caused by the bad weather.
